Simplicity Enterprise: Rejuvenation Edition™ is a cross-platform, all-J2EE solution for integrating legacy applications with modern Application Servers. You can quickly transform legacy applications such as those running on AS/400™, Mainframes and Unix™ Servers in order to produce scalable Enterprise applications. The Rejuvenation Edition (SE:RE) is a perfect tool for developers or companies that have acquired years of legacy assets and can't afford the time or economic expense to rewrite their entire application. SE:RE provides a quick, efficient and economical solution for re-facing and merging the legacy application without compromising a line of the existing code. Old applications can be modernized with new friendly user interfaces and be viewed by countless users via the web.

The Rejuvenation Edition is an optional Module that can be added to the Simplicity Enterprise Module Palette. The Rejuvenation Module accesses independent legacy applications or they can be merged with other applications and/or JDBC sources. Simplicity Enterprise uses graphical modules to quickly incorporate any server-side data source into new applications. Such applications can target any client, including HTML, WML, and XML clients or mobile devices using J2ME/MIDP. The results conform to J2EE standards, and are deployable to any J2EE server such as BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere™ or any J2EE Servlet Container such as JRun and Tomcat. And the source code created by Simplicity Enterprise is completely non-proprietary, cross-platform, and written in 100% Java.

SE:RE lets you easily incorporate legacy applications as sources of data. Using graphical modules, data is automatically detected, configured and incorporated into J2EE applications as Java code. Once captured as part of the new servlet the code can be used as is or further massaged to meet unlimited possibilities as a generic component. The core technology Simplicity Enterprise: Rejuvenation Edition can transform existing applications using 3270™, 5250™, and VT™ terminal types. Once the data is extracted, it can be combined with modules targeting any J2EE technology such as JDBC and XML.

The Enterprise Servlet Composer, a key element of Simplicity Enterprise: Rejuvenation Edition, includes a palette of modules containing all the typical features which you as a developer need when building server-side applications. Now you can select the required features, drop them into a graphical program execution tree, configure the modules, and test the Servlet. And you can do it all in an integrated environment built for seamless development and testing.

The WebMacro template processing engine is used to merge the information produced by the servlet into a document to be delivered to the client (often HTML or WML, but any document type may be used). This approach completely separates the program logic from the presentation, allowing the graphic designer and the software developer to work independently.

The Palette contains modules for working with databases via JDBC, parsing XML, and manipulating files, as well as modules for controlling flow of execution and http header manipulation. Simplicity Enterprise: Rejuvenation Edition provides an open API where developers can add their own custom modules to the palette, allowing the flexibility to meet individual and industry-specific needs.
